There are a variety of absolutely breathtaking places across the Costa del Sol and if you’re hoping to take some incredible pictures, you’re likely to want to pay a visit to a few of them.
Anyone who enjoys photography as a hobby (or even a profession) is certain to want to grab their camera and snap some of these unbelievably amazing spots. Even if you’re not much of a photographer, you can easily visit some of these areas just for the views alone. You’re sure to agree that they’re well worth it. Here are just a few of the most stunning sights of this coastal region:
Ronda Gorge
A popular Andalusian Natural Monument, this massive gorge is a sight to see. Take a step back and witness it from a distance before getting up close – you’re certain to want some pictures of both views. The bridge that goes between the two walls of the gorge is also beautiful and only makes the area even more worth visiting.
Alongside La Caldera, houses that are iconic in the region and the interesting geography as a whole, it’s the perfect place for a photographer (or any sightseer) to spend a few hours.
The Butterfly Park of Benalmadena
Located just 20 minutes away from Málaga, right in the heart of the Costa del Sol, is a fantastic place to watch and capture photos of a wide variety of colourful butterflies flying freely in a small tropical paradise – which certainly makes it a wonderful sight for us! You’ll just adore the flowers, waterfalls and over 1,500 types of exotic butterflies.
A day here will give you plenty of amazing pictures, but you’re sure to find something new with every visit, due to how many insects there are and the endless possibilities for photography they offer simply by going about their business.
The Caminito Del Rey
The walls of the Gaitanes Gorge (known as Desfiladero de los Gaitanes in Spanish) are such an impressive sight – and whether you want to take a snapshot from afar or walk over the path that’s attached to the gorge over the Guadalhorce River, you can rest assured that you’ll get some excellent results.
The rocky walls themselves, the hills in the distance and the river down below are all just amazing, so be sure to come to this part of El Chorro and take a couple of pictures on your journey.
The Gibralfaro viewpoint
This viewpoint has quite a few different things to fall in love with and photograph. On one hand, you have a magnificent view of Málaga – easily one of the best in the region – as well as the surrounding sea, but there’s also the incredible historical sites here too, in the form of the Gibralfaro Castle and the Alcazaba.
Both of these ancient fortresses are well worth checking out, both to snap some pics and just to explore a piece of history.
The Torcal de Antequera
With one of the world’s most unique and seemingly impossible rocky landscapes, there’s no doubt that the Torcal de Antequera offers some fantastic photo opportunities.
The Torcal is a World Heritage Site, located just 12 km from Antequera. The views here are incredible and it’s an amazing hiking spot if you’re looking to get closer to nature and enjoy a little trek while searching for the best spots to capture the views.
Other great areas to check out in this region include:
- The Balcony of Europe (Balcon de Europa)
- The Botanical Garden of La Concepcion
- The Hall of Cataclysm (as well as the rest of Nerja Cave)
- The Rock of love (Peña de los Enamorados)
- Baños Arabes
- Castillo Sohail
- Málaga Cathedral
- Casa Del Rey Moro
