Torcal de Antequera Natural Area
One of the most beautiful natural sites to explore in the region is definitely the Torcal de Antequera and if you decide to stop by or even just look at a few photos online, you’re likely to understand why this area in particular is a must-visit.
The landscape has been formed from millions of years of sedimentation – and the process of this alone is fascinating – so it might be worth looking into it if you’re interested in geography.
There are several different areas to the Torcal de Antequera and 2 different hiking trails, so explore at your leisure and revisit the iconic atmosphere anytime you feel like having an adventure far from the modern world.
Sierra de las Nieves Natural Park

A great easy one to start off with is the Quejigales recreational area, which may be even more ideal for families who are going for a hike. After going through this part of the mountain range, you might want to head to Puerto de los Pilones and the Cañada del Cuervo pine forest. There are a number of other great things here in this natural park too, such as the mirador Luis Ceballos viewpoint which has a handy information board and the Tajo de Caina which has breathtaking views that you won’t want to miss.
Caminito del Rey
One of the most famous hiking trails in Málaga is Caminito del Rey and if you decide to come for a visit and traverse in this wonderful part of the region, you’ll see why.
It was once considered to be the most dangerous hike in the world, due to missing parts of the trail pathway, cliff side drops and more – although it has been fixed and made far safer since then. These repairs and changes took several years, and the result (the area that it is today) is just fantastic.
With a variety of absolutely stunning views across the 8km trail, you could easily spend a few hours to just take in the scenery, which we would certainly advise you to do.
A stroll by the sea, from Marbella to Puerto Banús
The last one we mentioned is often considered to be a bit more of a challenging hike – whereas this walk is one of the easiest while still offering amazing views. Just take a trip from Marbella’s promenade and go from there, straying further from the centre of the city and enjoying the scenery of the sea and the Sierra Marbellí Mountains as you go. Overall, this is a 7km walk and by the end of it, you’ll reach the beautiful, luxurious marina of Puerto Banús.
