History of the Marbella Starlite Festival
Known as the social and entertainment event of the year in Marbella, the vision for an intimate concert venue took over 30 years to realize.
In 1983 world-renowned singers Placido Domingo and Julio Iglesias along with Marbella Club Hotel founder Alfonso Hohenlohe dreamed of an open-air concert venue located in the former Cantera de Nagüeles. They succeeded in constructing the Auditorio de Marbella and the Tenors held a concert, but their dream of creating an annual music festival in this unique location wasn’t realized for nearly 30 years.
After the initial concert, the venue was abandoned once again. It wasn’t until 2012 that the amphitheater was reconstructed to serve as the site for the now annual Marbella Starlite Festival.
